Eucalyptus House

Eucalyptus entered 2025 with a clear direction and motto, courtesy of our Year 9 SRC, Zinat A:“Follow the path of Eucalyptus with calm mind and bold heart”.

Our staff and students certainly rose to her challenge! We saw calm in our learning spaces and across the House, and boldness from all who participated in school events throughout the year. While 2025 might not have led to the collective success in the race for the House Shield, we have so much to be proud of from an individual and group level.

Some of our Year 12 students deserve special recognition for their exceptional efforts in the House Chorales competition - some performing for the first time in their school career. They led the way for many other songbirds to join in. A special thank you to Mr Christoffelz, Ms Tracy, Ms Ratnavelu, Ms Curnow, Mrs Cameron and Mr Lam for their lunchtime and afterschool support, helping the choir deliver a moving rendition of Ordinary by Alex Warren.

We also celebrate our Year 7 students, who made their mark in school and interschool sports, shining a spotlight on the bright future for Eucalyptus. In addition, our amazing NAP students, who accumulated a staggering points total at all events for their willingness to have a go!

Really, a special thank you to all students who got involved this year! Whether swimming, running, throwing, egg-and-spoon racing, or even contributing to push-ups - every effort counted. To every student who showed up and gave it their all, thank you for representing Eucalyptus with pride!

Our House initiatives and fundraising efforts this year were led by an incredible group of young people, including our Eucalyptus SRC representatives, House Captains and those who stepped up without formal titles. Together, they raised over $400 for this year’s House Charity, Head Space, supporting young people’s mental health. Our student leaders extend a special shout out to Ms Ratnavelu for supporting them in their fundraising efforts.

In the staff space, we welcomed back Ms John and farewelled the amazing Ms Cameron as AHL. We also said goodbye to Mrs Barton and Miss Nicole in the HAO space as they moved on to new and exciting roles at the school and welcomed Ms Jaiswal. We said a temporary farewell to Ms Shen, whose students eagerly await her return and welcomed Ms Chahal and Mr Al-Shawaf to our team. Alongside our much appreciated regulars - Mr Christoffelz, Ms Curnow, Ms Di Mascolo, Ms Farahani, Mr Gulzari, Mr Kafrouni, Ms Jiang, Mr Lam, Ms Liyana Gamage, Ms Nguyen, Mr Singh, Ms Sreedharan, Ms Ratnavelu, Ms Tracy, Ms Vengilat, Mr Yuan and Ms Zhang - they have contributed to make Eucalyptus a wonderful learning community to be a part of.

A special acknowledgement to all of the students who put their hands up and took on formal leadership roles within the House this year. Hadi MH & Zain K (House Captains), Aliya S, Amanat S, Linda H, Maryam A, Zinat A, Zubeen K, Arfa S, Ketayon A. Standing before your peers to deliver speeches and then fulfilling the promises you made, all while balancing studies and leadership, is an impressive achievement and one to be proud of.

Here is looking forward to yet another year of growth and bravery from the House of Blue!
