International Day of People with Disabilities

On 3rd of December, we held our annual event – International Day of People with Disabilities. This day is to promotes awareness, understanding and acceptance of people with disability. The week commenced with Basketball Victoria attending the school and students participated in wheelchair basketball activity throughout the day.

During Wednesday lunchtime students were involved in a range of activities from making a pledge; lolly jar competition; photo booth stall; whilst enjoying some music from our talented school band and cooling down with an icy pole to celebrate the day! A shout out to all the students and staff who helped make this day a success!

Harmony Ambassadors – Cultural Event

This past term, Dandenong High School’s Harmony Ambassadors organised a Staff Afternoon Tea, to celebrate culture, school community and togetherness. The event began with traditional greetings and performances by the ambassadors, who then led the staff in playing cultural games and a fun group dance. The students and staff later shared a meal, which was graciously provided by the student’s families – Lamb Biryani and Sheer Korma as the dessert. The afternoon was filled with such joy, laughter and excitement and was made a success by the tireless efforts of the students.

The ambassadors planned this event as their final project, implementing the skills they have learnt from the RESP Leadership Program, that they participated in during Term 2 and Term 3 of this year.

Reestablishing the Harmony Ambassadors, as a part of the Refugee Education Support Program, has been a highlight this year for the RESP Action team and we are immensely proud of how far these students have come. We urge you to look forward to future events organised by the Harmony Ambassadors, in 2026.
