Model United Nations

The Model UN conference at the Governor’s House was an incredible experience, and I felt truly honoured to attend and take part in it. Participating in this event helped me develop many important skills that will benefit me both in school and in life. By researching global issues and representing Chile’s interests, I learned how to think critically and consider multiple perspectives. Our preparation taught us how to find credible sources, analyse complex problems, and understand global challenges in depth. We discovered that although Chile still faces significant difficulties in upholding parts of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR), the country has made substantial progress in areas such as Indigenous rights, strengthening democracy, and addressing crime. During debates, I had to rely on my public-speaking skills learning to speak clearly, confidently, and calmly. Even when faced with rapid fire questions about our policies. I also had the chance to further develop my speaking abilities when presenting Chile’s position statement alongside Praneet in front of many fellow UN members, the Governor’s assistant, and other distinguished guests.

Negotiating, compromising, and building alliances during unmoderated caucuses strengthened our communication and teamwork skills, helping us learn how to collaborate respectfully with people who hold different viewpoints. In the end, we were proud to be one of only four countries out of twenty to successfully pass our amendment into the final draft resolution. None of this would have been possible without Miss Zahirovic, whose unwavering support, guidance, and resilience helped us navigate every part of the conference. And of course, my amazing teammates; Praneet, Uarda, and Ibrahim played a vital role in helping us present ourselves professionally in such a new and challenging environment.

Timbarra P-9 Fete Performance

On the last Wednesday of November, Timbarra P-9 College hosted their annual fete. Many schools were invited to perform such as Narre Warren South P-12 College, Akira Secondary College, and Dandenong High School. Both “The Band From Dand” (Rock Band Jnr) and “The Unknown Pineapples” (Rock Band Snr) took up the invitation and travelled down to Timbarra to showcase their passion and talents to the wider school community.

A big thank you to Timbarra for hosting us at their event. The students had an awesome performance and are itching for more opportunities to play to new audiences.

Shout out to Mr Easton for the incredible photography work!

Walker Street Gallery Excursion

On Wednesday 10th December, a small group of junior students were invited to Walker Street Art Gallery to work with two local artists: Jon & Fayen. The artists shared a collaborative artwork from the 1990’s called ‘The Maze’.

The students got to discuss their impressions of the artwork & record their own voices. They learnt how to use the recording equipment and share their opinions about art. It was a wonderful opportunity to work with real artists on an exhibition which will be shown in the gallery in March, 2026.

International Students at the Melbourne Zoo!

On the 20th of November, our International Students enjoyed an exciting excursion to the Melbourne Zoo. The visit aimed to help students learn more about Australia, its unique environment and native wildlife, supporting their cultural understanding of their host country. Students were especially fascinated by iconic Australian animals such as kangaroos, koalas and wombats, appreciating the opportunity to see them up close in naturalistic habitats. The aquatic animals were another favourite, with strong interest in the seals, penguins and underwater exhibits. Overall, the excursion was an engaging and educational experience that strengthened students’ connection to Australia.
