2023 Victorian All Schools Team (Athletics Victoria)

Scarlett Southern (Year 11) has been rewarded for her hard work and dedication by being selected as part of the Victorian All Schools Team to compete at the Chemist Warehouse Australian All Schools Track and Field Championships in Perth!

The four day competition will be held from Thursday 7 December to Sunday 10 December. We send you our very best wishes. Go Scarlett! Go Team Vic!

Victorian State Clay Target Shooting Titles

The future of Clay Target shooting is looking good with Aiden Calleja doing Echuca proud at the VCTA State Titles recently!

Aiden took out both the Sub Junior Single Barrel overall/Grade High Gun for the weekend and Sub Junior High Gun. Hr also went on to shoot off for the Junior Vic State Team.

Congratulations Aiden! What a year you've had in your sport and what an incredible achievement at such a young age!

State Basketball Finals

It’s been a busy few weeks on the road to Melbourne for our sporting teams!

Our Year 7 Boys Basketball team battled out three games at MSAC. They were only narrowly defeated by Taralgon and Maribyrnong Sports Academy in their first two games and finished the day off against a tough Rowville team.

Well done to the team on reaching the best in the state!

Special thanks to Mr Les Butler and Mr Jordan Hutton for stepping in to coach at the last minute and to the parents for supporting the team on the sidelines with such enthusiasm.

Then it was our Year 8 Girls turn to take to the court on Tuesday at MSAC. It was a nail biting finish to the first game against Bass Coast, with our girls narrowly losing by 1 point in the final seconds! There was strong competition against Maribyrnong Sports Academy and Templestowe in the final rounds but unfortunately our girls couldn't get a win on the board.

Well done to all team members on your determination and positive attitude. Thank you to Mr Beck for coaching and the parents for cheering the team on.

State Tennis Finals

Unfortunately, our Year 8 Boys Tennis team didn’t take the court at Dendy Park last week, due to wet weather and unplayable court conditions. The State Final has now been rescheduled to Thursday 23 November at Dingley Tennis Club.

We wish the boys all the very best and hope for fine conditions! A special mention to the parents who travelled to Melbourne last week to support the tennis team.

World Water Ski Racing Championships

We would like to congratulate Kohdi Cartledge (Year 9) who was crowned Junior Boys Champion at the IWWF World Waterski Championships on the Central Coast last weekend!

What an achievement! Well done on all the hard work and dedication you have contributed to this sport.

Victorian Country Squad

Congratulations to Grace Moyle (Year 11) on her selection in the Victorian Country U19 Women's Cricket Squad! Grace will play in the National Championships in Brisbane on December 14 - 21 and we wish her all the best!

Grace also took to the pitch on Tuesday 21 November for the Riverina Bullets in the Plan B Country Bash Grand Final which was played prior to the WBBL match between Adelaide Strikers and Sydney Thunder.

A wonderful effort by Grace, juggling school and sporting commitments. We are beyond proud of you Grace. Keep reaching for the stars!

Congratulations Harley Reid!

What a week for Harley Reid and his family!

After years of hype and speculation, he was officially picked at #1 in the National Draft and will commence his AFL career at the West Coast Eagles in 2024!

We were fortunate enough to welcome Harley back to school last Friday along with two of our other Year 12 students, Hugh Byrne and Oliver Pool in the lead up to National AFL draft. The boys graciously took time out to visit at lunchtime and enjoy a Q&A session with Mr Grant Kemp while students flocked to the centre yard to listen in on their educational and sporting journeys.

All three boys were incredibly humble and spoke with great maturity and gratitude for their football opportunities to date, their time at St Joseph’s College and their hopes and dreams for the future.

It has been a privilege to have these fine young men as students at our school and we wish them all the best as they embark on the next chapter of their lives.

To Harley in particular, you are already a superstar in our eyes! Your humbleness, integrity and grounded approach throughout this journey has been amazing. We are beyond proud of what you have already achieved. Enjoy every moment of this phase and we look forward to following you in the blue and gold!
