Victorian Coding Challenge

Year 7 Maths Excursion

During lunchtimes, at home and once they have finished their maths class work, four year 7 students, under the guidance of Mrs Chatfield, have been taking part in the online Victorian Coding Challenge for the past 2 to 3 months. The challenges required the students to apply coding and algorithmic thinking to solve interesting and complex problems.

On November 17, Ewan, Damien, Cade and Xavier, headed to Melbourne in the early hours of the morning, to compete in the Year 7/8 Coding Challenge with others students from across the state, at Docklands. The students competed in many different challenges and games throughout the day with enthusiasm, showcasing their coding skills and ability to work together. Overall, the boys finished 11th, an amazing effort!

A big shout out to Mrs Chatfield and Mr Hutton who accompanied the students and guided them throughout the day. They are all looking forward to beginning the challenge and improving their skills next year.
