From the Principal's Desk

Fun, Fun, Fun!
The past two weeks have been filled with excitement, laughter and lots of learning across our school.
Our Foundation students at both the Heights and Springvale campuses recently hosted their much-anticipated Foundation Family Fun Days, welcoming families and friends into the Springvale Rise PS community. The days were packed with activities, including a wonderful magician, the energetic beats of an African drummer, parachute games and, of course, plenty of smiles. A big thank you to our partners at Chobani Yoghurt for providing some delicious snacks for everyone to enjoy.
We are also very pleased to welcome back our friends from the City of Greater Dandenong Libraries Reading Buddies Program. Each week, our Reading Buddies visit both campuses to share beautiful books and spend time reading with students in the FLC and JLC. These sessions are always a highlight and a wonderful way to foster a love of reading.
If you would enjoy spending some time reading to, with, or listening to our younger learners, please let us know. We would love to have more volunteers involved — the more readers, the merrier!
NAPLAN
NAPLAN testing for Grade 3 and Grade 5 students will begin on Wednesday March 11th. Once again this year, all tests will be online, except for the Grade 3 Writing test which will be a hand-written component. Please support your child by getting them to school on time and ensuring they have had a good night’s sleep and breakfast. As per our usual process, more information will be shared with Year 3 and Year 5 parents/carer’s.
Cultural Diversity Week / Harmony Day Community Celebration
Just a reminder that our Cultural Diversity Week / Harmony Day celebrations are fast approaching. More information will be circulated on Tuesday but please pop this information in your diaries today.
Heights Campus Parade - Wednesday March 25th
Springvale Campus Parade - Thursday March 26th
This community celebration is one of our signature events - and we just cannot wait! Don't forget to wear traditional dress or the color orange for HARMONY.
NOTE: *Once again we will have a professional photographer in attendance.
Keep smiling,
Debbie Cottier
