INTERNATIONAL WOMENS DAY

Celebrating International Women’s Day at MESC
International Women’s Day (IWD) is celebrated annually on March 8th as a global recognition of all women and those who identify as women. It is a day that transcends race, socio-economic status, and location—providing an opportunity for all women to be acknowledged, celebrated, and empowered. While some mark the occasion with grand events, IWD can be as simple as taking a moment to reflect on progress and reaffirm the commitment to gender equality.
The 2025 theme, 'Accelerate Action,' reminds us that while progress has been made, there is still much work to be done. According to the World Economic Forum, at the current rate, full gender parity will not be reached until 2158—a staggering five generations from now. This stark reality underscores the importance of taking action today to create a more equitable future.
As part of the #AccelerateAction campaign, we engaged in discussions about the importance of IWD and encouraged students to strike the Accelerate Action pose, aligning with this year’s global theme. At MESC, we are proud to contribute to this movement through engaging classroom activities and by raising awareness of gender equality.
We are incredibly grateful to the wonderful women in our MESC community and to everyone who participated in this year’s celebration. While there is always room for improvement, we recognize how far we have come and look forward to seeing the next generation embrace and champion this cause.
Together, we can Accelerate Action for a fairer and more inclusive world.
