PRINCIPAL REPORT

What a fabulous start to the year. I want to say a huge congratulations to the kids and a huge thankyou to parents and carers for the commitment and support towards a HAPPY, SMART and PREAPRED environment. New processes continue to be reflected upon but with our shared endeavour to focus on enabling learning through READINESS, many more students are in class, focused and doing their EXCELLENT things! Teachers are reporting ‘a can do’ attitude in all year levels.
In the coming 12 months you begin to see and hear primary and secondary Government Schools in Victoria working together on a shared approach to teaching and learning and approaches to student wellbeing and behaviour. As a staff we are beginning to participate in professional learning that will compliment the introduction of the Victorian Teaching and Learning Model (VTLM2.0) and Positive Classroom Management Strategies (PCMS). Both Department of Education initiatives are driven by research, including the science behind memory, recall and learning. As parent/carer friendly resources come, we will be sure to share them with you.
I have been super proud of the student leadership group for 2025. They are very enthusiastic, brainstorming lots of ways they can demonstrate student voice and agency for themselves and their peers. Charlie Bigg and Ella Maciver have already made a big impression on the school community as College Captains. One of their 2025 focus is raising awareness in our local and wider community on our limited sporting and performing arts facilities. They have already had meetings with Councillor Batty and Federal Member Zoe McKenzie. They have also started a fundraising campaign to raise money for an outdoor learning space for HPE and a 3X3 Basketball competition to raise funds for new nets.
PLEASE CONTRIBUTE IF YOU CAN!

HAPPY 50TH MESC!
Yes, it is our 50th birthday this year! We will be having an event on October 10th, 2025. Be sure to SAVE THE DATE for an evening of fun and celebration of 50 years – I have heard already many reunions and dinner plans are being made! More information will come next term, including how you may be able to help support this wonderful event.
