4A newsletter

Hello, welcome  to week 2 of term 3. I hope you had a great 2 weeks of holidays. In the past few weeks of school in maths we have been working on our fact families and our 6, 8, 9 and 7 times tables. We are getting better and better at it every time we practise. 

In literacy we have started a new topic called Word Origins where we focus on a word for the hour and add suffixes and prefixes to it to change the meaning of the word. We must write very neatly because it improves our skill of neat writing and Mrs Rush looks at our books. Last term's mentor text was Kensuke’s Kingdom and HOLES. But this term’s mentor text is Always Was Always Will Be by Aunty Fay and Muir Sue Lawson. It is about Aboriginal Australians fighting for their rights after settlers came and took over Australia. 

In art, we are learning something fun and new. We are learning drama. So far we have played lots of fun games where we have to concentrate and silently act out. Some of the games we played are Zip Zap Zop, Wink Murder, Pattern Detective and many more. 

In wellbeing we are split into groups that Mr Lloga chooses and we get a card that has a random emotion on it, then we need to turn it into a play. 

Lastly, in integrated studies our unit is very similar to literacy because it is also about First Fleet from England going to Australia. We are making creative comics about it. My 3 favourite topics at school are Art, Literacy and Integrated Studies.

Hello, welcome to term 3 of school. I hope you had a great, great, great 2 weeks of school holidays. We have started a new book called Always Was Always Will Be. The book is about Aboriginal people and how Europeans took over Australian land. Last week we finished a comic about the book and we all worked really hard on drawing pictures and writing about convicts who came from England to Australia on ships. Before we started Always was Always will be we were reading a book called Holes. Before Holes we were reading Kensuke’s Kingdom.  

During our wellbeing lesson we created plays to demonstrate different emotions. Some of the plays were funny and some were not. In our maths lessons we have been working on our 6, 7, 8 and 9 times tables. My favourite part about maths is when we quiz each other for one minute at the start of our lesson.

Overall we have had a great start to term 3.
