VCE VM News
The Year 11 and 12 VCE VM students have had a productive beginning to Term 3, with plenty of opportunities to learn new skills, contribute to our local community and put their classroom learning into action.
Some of our Year 12 students volunteered with the Lakes Entrance Lioness Club, preparing toasted sandwiches for local schools. This has been a wonderful opportunity for students to develop their teamwork and communication skills while supporting our local community.
Students have also been putting their customer service and hospitality skills into practice with our new coffee machine in the canteen. Students have been using their espresso-making skills to prepare coffees, developing confidence in operating the machine, communicating with customers and working with money. A special mention goes to Shane, who has designed the logo for our new school coffee shop, LESC Bean & Brew. We are very excited to see this student-led enterprise take shape.
There has also been plenty of celebrating, with students recognising and celebrating milestone birthdays within our VM community. These moments provide a great opportunity to build connections and celebrate the people who make our program such a supportive and welcoming environment.
The Year 11 VCE - VM students have put their entrepreneurial skills into action by running a successful school thrift shop. The event gave students and staff the opportunity to pick up some great second-hand clothing while supporting a fantastic cause.
The students were involved in all aspects of the event, including sorting, pricing, displaying and selling the donated clothing. They also ran a sausage sizzle throughout the day, adding to the community atmosphere and helping to raise even more money.
A huge thank you to everyone who donated clothing, purchased items or supported the sausage sizzle. Most importantly, well done to our VM students for their hard work, organisation and enthusiasm in making the day such a success!
It has been fantastic to see our students confidently presenting their work at assembly, sharing what they have been learning and the projects they have been involved in. These opportunities are helping students build their confidence, public speaking and communication skills.
Meanwhile, our Year 12 students have begun planning their graduation and celebration day. They are taking responsibility for organising an important event for their cohort, including planning, decision-making, budgeting, communication and working together to create a memorable celebration of their time at the College.
It has been a busy and productive start to Term 3, and we are incredibly proud of the way our students continue to learn by doing, contribute to our community and develop the skills they will take with them beyond school. We are looking forward to seeing what the rest of the term brings!
