Sports Update

Vermont Secondary College

Congratulations: Tom D

Congratulations to Tom D of year 11 Macedon, who represented Australia in the 2025 FIBA U16 Asia Cup. This is the continental basketball championship for under-16 men's national teams from the FIBA Asia zone. The tournament was played in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, from 31 August to 7 September 2025. It also served as a qualifier for the 2026 FIBA Under-17 Basketball World Cup in Turkey, where the top four teams qualified.

Australia successfully defended their title from the previous championship after defeating China in the final, 85–58.

Tom was an integral member of the squad. I can hear the LA Clippers calling.

TERM  3 YEAR 7 ROUND ROBIN

Table Tennis

Boys A Team

On Friday the 12th of September the year 7 Vermont Boys A team participated in the district round robin at Kilsyth Sports Centre. We competed against 3 other teams; Glen Waverly, Mount Waverley and Orchard Park, where in we won 2 matches and lost 1. We had very close matchups and we beat Glen Waverley 4-2, Orchard Park 3-3 (we won on the number of sets won) and lost against Mount Waverley 3-3 (sadly we lost on the amount of sets this time!). The boys A team is excited about their participation in the year 7 table tennis regional competition taking place in week 2 of term 4!

Girls A Team

I had so much fun playing table tennis in the round robin competition against Highvale, Mount Waverley and Glen Waverley. It was such a good experience playing matches with my friends and cheering each other on. Some of the games were really close, which made it even more exciting. I was so proud to be part of the Vermont team because the Girls A Team, Girls B Team, Boys A Team and Boys B Team all came first overall. It was a really fun day and a great way to represent our school.
