From the Year 2 Classroom
What a great two weeks of learning we have had. We can't believe it's Week 4 already. The children are doing an excellent job remembering their hats and drink bottles each day—thank you for your support with this.
We would love to see the students start to become more independent in the mornings by walking in on their own, unpacking their bags, and changing readers if they need too.
Literacy:
In Reading, we have been learning the difference between Imaginative and Informative texts. We have been able to name each of their features.
In Spelling, we have been learning about digraphs- such as 'ai' and 'ay' and 'oa' and 'ow.' The tricky words we are learning are February, woman, until, was, here, friend, were
In Writing, our focus has been Narratives. We have enjoyed writing both imaginative and realistic pieces and sharing our sizzling starts with our peers.
Maths:
In Numeracy, we have been building our place value skills and learning the value of digits in various numbers up to and beyond one thousand. We have also been completing some problem-solving activities where we have needed to work as part of a group.
Religion:
In Religion, our unit of work is called, 'We Grow in God's Love.' We have been learning about how we can show love and kindness to both our families and our friends and what makes us special and unique.
On Shrove Tuesday- we enjoyed eating pancakes as we move into the Church season of Lent.
Swimming Carnival
Our Swimming Carnival is this Thursday- 19th February. Students need to bring their bathers, rashie, towel and crocs/thongs in a bag to get changed into at school. Parents are welcome to attend. We are at the pool from 11.15-1.15ish.
Just a few reminders:
- Where possible, please send fruit in a separate container.
- Readers are due back on Friday- students are also encouraged to borrow boxes from the class library or read their Library books
Wednesday is our Library Day- can we please ensure that all books and bags are here on a Wednesday.
