Performing Arts News

What a fantastic start we’ve had in Performing Arts! Students have all settled in beautifully and are already showing enthusiasm, creativity, and confidence as we explore music making together. 

Over the past two weeks, we’ve been diving into the foundations of beat and rhythm, which are two of the most important building blocks in music. Students have been using claves, also known as clapping sticks and a range of classroom instruments to practise keeping a steady beat and creating rhythmic patterns. It’s been wonderful to see all of our students listening carefully, collaborating, and experimenting with sound.

 We have also been using our lesson time to revisit some of our school song favourites. Last week, all classes spent some time practising our new favourite Pure Hearts by Tim Hart. 

This week, we will continue the heart theme and revisit another favourite Hearts on Fire by Michael Mangan.
