Health & PE

This week in Health and PE we explored the body’s response to physical activity. This fits nicely with our Human body science topic this term! As we exercise, we become puffed, which is our body’s way of taking in more oxygen due to the extra work of our muscles!
Students also commenced our AFL skills focus with a clinic run by AFL Victoria! Each class had a great session with AFL representative and past student, Jordan, who ran us through fun and engaging drills and activities aimed at developing our football skills, wherever they may be at! For many this was their first try of AFL, whilst for others it was not new at all. Our focus is always on participation, enjoyment in physical activity, team work and personal skill development whatever sport we may be focusing on. Observing our students enthusiasm was heart warming!
Over the next two weeks, our Grade 5/6 students will continue exploring AFL skills, applying superkick rules of tagging (no tackling) and teamwork, with opportunities to build their own skills further. Grade 2-4 students will be engaging in a balance of AFL skills, tabloid sports games and ball handling skills, whilst our Grade F/1 students will continue building confidence in applying their fundamental motor skills of throwing, catching, running and jumping through a range of skill drills, activities and games. They will also continue learning and enjoying playing tabloid sports games in preparation for our District Tabloid Sports Day next term.
All grades will finish the term with a fun end of term games session. Well done to each grade for passing 5 stickers on their chart, resulting in this end of term reward!
