Health Alert

There has been a reported case of school sores at LCS, the infection is characterised by inflamed blisters that pop, weep and form crusts. Treatment options include antibiotics. A child with school sores should be kept home from school until appropriate treatment has begun and the sores on exposed areas are covered with a waterproof dressing and where necessary a crepe bandage.

Important Medication Guidelines for Parents/Carers

To ensure the safe and effective administration of medication during the school day, we ask that parents and carers follow these guidelines:

  1. Medication Timing

Whenever possible, medication should be scheduled outside of school hours. For example, medications that are required to be taken three times a day can usually be taken before and after school, and before bed, to avoid needing to administer medication during school hours.

  2. Medication at School

If it is necessary for your child to take medication during school hours, please ensure that:

    • The medication is taken to the school office for safe storage.
    • A Medication Authority Form is completed and submitted by a parent or carer. This form is required for any medication that needs to be administered during school hours.

For further details, please read the attached Medication Policy.

Please contact the school office if you need assistance with the Medication Authority Form. For more information

Lost & Damaged Library Book Fines

Responsibility is an important skill to develop.

If your child’s library book is lost or damaged, you will be charged a lost library book fee of $10.00 so that it can be replaced. The money will be refunded if the book is found. When at home, we suggest you keep your child’s library books in a common place for easy accessibility. This will also encourage your child to be responsible for the books they have borrowed.

Please note if your child has an overdue library book you will receive an email from our library system, functional solutions. If your child's book is overdue for more than one month you will see an overdue library charge on your XUNO dashboard. This is not a voluntary charge and should be paid as soon as possible.

Attendance

It is a legal requirement for parents to provide an explanation for their child’s absence from school. If your child is absent from school for any reason, please lodge via Xuno. There are currently many unexplained absences on Xuno. Absences without an explanation will be marked as unexplained. In this instance the primary contact will receive an internal message via Xuno at approx. 9:30am, please respond promptly to this message with a valid reason.

Family Holidays

If your family is planning a holiday during the school term, parents must submit a written request and schedule an appointment with the Principal for approval. This ensures proper documentation and consideration for your child’s absence.

Late Arrivals

If your child arrives late to school (after 8.50am) they must report to the office and collect a late pass before going to their classroom. Arriving late disrupts the learning environment and means your child may miss important lessons, so we encourage all students to arrive on time.

Early Departures

If you need to pick up your child before the school day ends (3:25pm), you must first come to the office to sign them out. Students should not be picked up directly from the classroom or at lunchtime without the adult signing them out at the office first. This procedure is a legal requirement and is part of our commitment to Child Safety Practices.
