Final Day of Term 3
Don't forget to order your special lunch and to come along on the last day of school dressed in your footy colours. We look forward to celebrating the end of Term 3 with this special day.
I hope that all of our students, families and staff have a relaxing and enjoyable holiday break and we will see everyone back, ready for Term 4 on Monday October 6th.
Survey Ending Soon
Our Parent/Carer Opinion Survey ends on September 18th, if you haven't had a chance to complete this annual survey, we would really appreciate you taking ten or so minutes to do so. Please check Xuno for your unique code and link (see message sent on August 18th for details) or contact the office. Thank you for your support.
Playground Opening
Thank you to the family and community members who joined us for our official playground opening a fortnight ago. Despite the horrible weather and the lack of electricity, we forged ahead and were able to officially thank our sponsors for their generous donations and formally acknowledge those that contributed to project in terms of time, muscle power and support.
Father's Day Breakfast
Last Friday we held a breakfast and invited our dads, granddads and any other father figures to join us. It was so great to have such a wonderful turn out. Our guests were treated to bacon and egg rolls, hot tea and coffee and a chance to socialise as well as play some games with our students. A huge thank you to the wonderful staff who cooked and served this breakfast and to Theircare for their generous donation of the food. For more photos, please go to our school Facebook page.
School Council News
Our next meeting will be held on Tuesday September 16th. This meeting will be held via Webex and will therefore commence at 7pm. Links will be sent out to councillors prior to the meeting. If you are an apology for this meeting, please let either myself or Lisa Lind know before Monday September 15th.
School Review
Every four years schools go through a review process and this year is Lockington Consolidated School's review year. Staff have been analysing our school data from the previous four years, which includes student achievement data, survey data, wellbeing and engagement reports as well as reviewing our school policies and documentation. This is an intensive task in terms of both workload but also can be challenging as we are asked to identify areas of strength and areas for future growth. The aim of a Whole School Review is to look back at our achievements, but most importantly set a new strategic direction for our school with goals and targets to be achieved over the next four years. We have successfully completed the first part of the review process which saw us assessed against the standards for school registration (policy and practices related to Child Safety, OHS, governance and welfare). The second part of this process will occur over the first three weeks of Term 4, and we will be joined by an external panel who will look at our teaching and learning practices, curriculum and wellbeing supports. A report will then be formulated, and from this, the school will work towards creating a new Strategic Plan - which will shape our teaching and learning practices over the next four years. Our school community plays an important role in this review process and there will be opportunities for parents to join us for a forum and/or provide feedback to the panel with regards teaching and learning and wellbeing at our school. The processes and dates for this feedback will be provided to our school community as soon as they are confirmed by the reviewer and panel.
That is all for this week, Lisa Duffy.
