We are off to a ripper start in PE for 2026! 🙌 We’ve completed two strong weeks already and are heading into Week 3, with students showing fantastic enthusiasm, effort, and skill development across all year levels.
Preps have been busy exploring movement through fun animal walks like frog hops, kangaroo jumps and bunny hops. The learning focus has been on moving safely and confidently, with students practising hopping, skipping and galloping, navigating small-group obstacle courses, and building body awareness through discussion and reflection.
Year 1/2 students have been developing their object control skills through games like Toss & Catch Tag and a safe rolling version of Dodgeball. The focus has been on throwing, catching and rolling with accuracy and control, progressing from individual drills to partner challenges and small-group relays. Overarm throwing technique has also been introduced, with students practising stepping forward and following through to hit targets. It’s been great to see confidence grow as challenges increased in distance, speed and accuracy.
Years 3–6 have kicked off the year with a strong focus on fitness and movement skills. Sessions have included jogs and dynamic stretching, individual and team fitness circuits, agility ladder and cone work, endurance runs, and rotating fitness stations. Students have been challenged to pace themselves, maintain good form, track repetitions, and reflect on effort, heart rate and improvement. Team relays and group challenges have added a fun and motivating element to each lesson.
In sporting news, five students proudly represented our school at the SSA Tennis competition on 5th February. A special congratulations to Louis T, who finished Runner Up in the Boys event- an outstanding achievement! 🎾We’re also looking ahead to SSA Soccer on 26th February, with trials and practice sessions coming up soon to give us the best chance to participate fully on the day. ⚽
