Celebrating the Retirement of Robyn Angove
After an outstanding 41-year teaching career, Lockington Consolidated School is celebrating the retirement of one of our most long standing teachers, Robyn Angove.
Robyn's teaching journey has taken her to several schools throughout Victoria, including Welton Primary School, Echuca East Primary School, Cornella Creek Primary School and Melton South Primary School. However, the majority of her remarkable career has been spent at Lockington Consolidated School, where she has made a lasting impact on generations of students and families.
Throughout her four decades in education, Robyn has inspired, supported and nurtured countless young people. Such has been the longevity of her career that many of the students she taught in her early years now have children of their own attending Lockington Consolidated School.
Robyn has always been known for her commitment to students, her professionalism, and her genuine care for the school community. Her influence extends far beyond the classroom, and she leaves behind a legacy of learning, kindness and dedication.
Following a period of leave, Robyn has made the decision to officially retire from her ongoing teaching position. While she is stepping away from her permanent role, we are delighted that she has agreed to remain connected to the school community by occasionally returning as a Casual Replacement Teacher.
On behalf of the students, staff, families and wider community, we thank Robyn for her extraordinary contribution to education and to Lockington Consolidated School. We wish her a long, healthy and rewarding retirement and look forward to seeing her back at school from time to time.
Congratulations, Robyn, and thank you for 41 years of making a difference.
End of Term
We made it!
Thank you to the students, families and staff for their contributions and hard work this term. Term Two certainly presented some challenges in terms of illness/absences both on the student and staffing side of things- but Team Locky pulled together and we have made it to the end of Term/Semester One.
A reminder that students will be dismissed today at 1.30pm - this means that buses will run two hours ahead of their regular schedule.
I would like to take this opportunity to wish all students, their families and our staff a safe and relaxing break over the school holidays. We look forward to seeing everyone again on Tuesday July 14th.
Curriculum Day
A further reminder that although Term 3 commences on Monday July 13th, this is for staff only. Students return to school on Tuesday July 14th.
Staff will spend the Monday completing their Level 2 First Aid Course.
Student Reports and Parent/Teacher Interviews
All families should now have the Semester One student reports for their child/ren; these were published on Xuno on Tuesday. Yesterday we held our mid-year Parent/Teacher Interviews and these were well attended. Both the reports and the interviews provide families with important information regarding each student's achievements, progress and areas for next focus both in the academic domain but also in the wellbeing space.
Lion's Club Speeches
Congratulations to all students in Years 3-6 who prepared and delivered their speeches last Thursday. Every student who spoke had spent a great deal of time researching, drafting, revising and editing their speech; they then spent many hours rehearsing and perfecting their delivery. They all should be so proud of their efforts, as public speaking does not come naturally to most of us and for many it is a real fear.
Congratulations to our finalists who delivered their speeches to the Lion's Club of Lockington judges yesterday. Those students were:Zaine Cydie, Mitch, Billy, Charlie , Davey, Rylee, Wyatt and Teddie (with Gabi being selected to compete in this round, but has left on a holiday).
A further congratulations to Billy and Davey who were declared the winners in their categories and will now move on to the next stage and represent our Lion's Club at the regional final. Runners up were Teddie and Mitch.
Thank you to Bill Roberts from the Lockington Lions Club for all of his organisation and to the judges Leanne Pentreath, Margaret Dowie and Michael Lyons.
Further reports and photos from the competition can be found on the Year 3/4 and 5/6 News Pages.
Book Week Celebrations
This is advance notice for families regarding our annual Book Week Activity Day. Book Week will be held in Week 7 of Term 3 and we will have our annual dress up parade, special assembly and classroom activities on Friday August 28th. Students are invited to come along to school dressed as a book character. Families are invited to watch us parade in the BER and stay for assembly. This will begin at 9am.
The theme for this year is Symphony of Stories.
