Physical Education

Last Friday, our Grade 5 and 6 students competed in our first Winter Gala Day for the year. It was originally scheduled to be our second Gala Day; however, the first event was unfortunately cancelled due to wet weather. With clear skies and favourable conditions, students were excited to finally take the field and make the most of the opportunity.

Students represented our school with pride as they competed against nine other schools from across the district in a variety of sports, including AFL 9s, Softball, Lawn Bowls, Soccer and Netball. Throughout the day, students demonstrated excellent teamwork, resilience and determination, while also displaying outstanding sportsmanship both on and off the field. Congratulations to all students involved for the way they represented our school community.

As we approach the end of the term, students will have the opportunity to revisit and complete any outstanding assessments, including demonstrating their kicking and dribbling skills. These activities continue to support our learning focus around the FIFA World Cup and help students further develop their understanding and enjoyment of invasion games. Students will also have the chance to celebrate a successful term by revisiting some of their favourite games and activities from throughout the semester.

Looking ahead to next term, there are many exciting sporting opportunities on the horizon. Students in Prep to Grade 2 will participate in a five-week gymnastics program beginning early in the term, providing opportunities to develop their balance, coordination, strength and confidence through a range of engaging activities.

Students in Grades 3 to 6 will also take part in our annual House Athletics Carnival at the Ringwood Athletics Track on Thursday 6 August. This is always a highlight of the sporting calendar and a fantastic opportunity for students to demonstrate their athletic skills, earn points for their house team and enjoy a day of friendly competition.

Later in the term, students in Grades 3 to 6 will have the opportunity to participate in Hooptime basketball tournaments. These events are always highly anticipated and provide students with another chance to represent the school, develop their basketball skills and experience inter-school competition.
