Children’s Book Week Celebrations 2024
Children’s Book Week celebrations are always a highlight at St Norbert College and this year was no exception. The theme for this year’s Children’s Book Week was ‘Reading is Magic’. Several Book Week activities and competitions were held in the library and enjoyed by many, but as always, the COSPLAY Parade on Tuesday the 20th of August was a standout. Students from Year 12, and some staff, dressed up as their favourite storybook characters and paraded themselves through the Father Peter O’Reilly Centre to much applause and appreciation from the whole school. It seemed that many of the characters that we have grown to love and cherish had literally stepped out of their books and into our assembly.
We were so proud of the Year 12 students for their outstanding participation and incredible efforts. We saw everything from Disney, Winnie the Pooh, Toy Story, Scooby Doo, Sesame Street and Ratatouille to Anime, The Heathers, Men in Black, Manga, One Piece and Marvel. Such a massive array of variety and so beautifully done. Many of the Year 12s even cleverly devised ‘group themes’, so we decided to award this as an extra special category this year. Well done Year 12s.
Several staff members also joined in on the ‘Reading is Magic’ spirit with Harry Potter characters being the most favourite choice as was Alice in Wonderland, Mr Men, Superman, Little Red Riding Hood, Odin Allfather and Lady Bridgerton. A select group of Year 12 students voted for the best dressed staff as listed below.
