ACC Senior Girls Football Championships Grand Final
On a momentous occasion at the Sam Kerr Football Centre, our Senior Girls Football team took to the field for the ACC Senior Girls Football Championships Grand Final against South Coast Baptist College. The girls earned their well-deserved spot in the final, going up against the reigning champions who have held the title for the past three years.
Facing such tough opponents, our girls played extremely well and the final score line did not reflect the game, going down 6-0. The team should be immensely proud of themselves as I know the St Norbert College community are of them. Both Rama and I have thoroughly enjoyed coaching this talented group, and we’ve been inspired by their continuous improvement. From reaching the quarter-finals last year to making it all the way to the grand final this year. We hope to continue this progress next year and hopefully go one step further.
What’s even more exciting for Rama and I, is that most of the team consists of Year 9 and 10 students. With such a strong foundation, we are already looking forward to what 2025 holds for this group. The future of girl’s football at the College is bright, with our 8/9 SASJ team going on to win the title.
SSWA Junior Boys Quarter-Final vs Mazenod:
Our Junior Boys Football team faced a tough quarter-final match against Mazenod at the Sam Kerr Football Centre. It was a tightly contested game, with the boys going down 1-0 in the first half. Unfortunately, we struggled to find our rhythm early on, with frequent loss of possession and being caught out of position on a number of occasions.
However, the second half saw a significant improvement. The boys began to move the ball much quicker, creating a number of promising chances, though we couldn’t quite find the back of the net. It was a disappointing way to end the competition, as both Rama and I had high hopes for this group.
Despite the setback, we are using this experience as motivation. As the Year 8 boys move up to the Intermediate category in 2025, while the current Year 7's remain in the Junior Boys, we are confident that the team will come back stronger. Looking ahead, our Junior Boys will be participating in the SSWA Futsal competition in Term 4, and we are excited to see how they perform. The future is bright for this group, and we’re already looking forward to the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.
Year 7 Super Series:
As the Year 7 Super Series Football competition approaches, excitement is building within our boys and girls’ teams. In preparation for the carnival in Term 4, Week 3, training has ramped up to twice a week, with both teams fully committed to improving their skills and understanding the football philosophy of the College. We’re looking forward to seeing the results of their hard work and dedication as they continue to prepare for the carnival.
