Victorian Coding Champion

Congratulations to Year 10 student Mahdi M, who finished first in the recently completed Victorian Coding Challenge (VCC), run by the Mathematical Association of Victoria (MAV).

The VCC is an annual event that challenges students to pit their coding skills against those of other students from schools across the state. This year's challenge was based on Greedy Pigs, a risk-based strategy game in which players must decide whether to keep chasing a higher score or play it safe and bank their points.

Students had to write and submit a program that was then run head-to-head against the programs submitted by other competitors. After 1,000 simulated rounds, Mahdi’s code accumulated the highest overall score, earning him first place. 

This impressive achievement is a great reflection of his coding, mathematical thinking and problem-solving skills.
