Basketball is Scoring Big at St Andrews

Light FM Executive, Dean Troth, Mayor of Knox, Susan Laukens and St Andrews Marketing Communication Manager, Peter Friend recently helped celebrate the Melbourne Boomers WNBL team's  85: 76 victory over the Townsville Fire during Round 11 at the State Basketball Centre Wantirna.

“It was a tremendously exciting point for point game right into the last quarter and was a wonderful exhibition of the athleticism and skill of women in sport” reported Mr Friend.

He also said he was excited about becoming involved in the Junior Basketball program for Primary students this year at St Andrews.

In recent years the calls have been growing louder and louder for a Primary School Basketball Program to run at St Andrews. After planning and ironing out the finer details, St Andrews' 2022 Primary Basketball is set to commence this Term.

Mr Friend, a long time Big-V elite coach, has enthusiastically stepped up to run the program saying “…you never know what talent might shine in our program - we might have the next Ezi Magbegor or Patty Mills right here at St Andrews!’.

Enthusiastic Students Welcome the Return of CSEN Sport

It was great to have Inter School Sport back for Years 7 and 8 students on Wednesday 23rd February. Ms Holland put in a fantastic effort organising eight different teams as well as the fitness group, providing loads of fun for all students involved.

The St Andrews Girls Soccer Team battled away bravely in harsh conditions, 32 degrees of heat, before conceding 2 goals ultimately losing the game to Lighthouse Christian College.

Well done to our St Andrews Year 7 and 8 sports students for the enthusiasm to get into CSEN sport for 2022!

AFL Comes to St Andrews

Many of the primary classes have enjoyed some wonderful coaching sessions from AFL Victoria in basic kicking, hand ball and marking skills. Our local AFL coach Luke, has provided the coaching and will also work with our Year 5 and 6 students on Friday afternoons during their sport lessons. Even some of the Year 10 Health class students got in on the action.

We have encouraged many of our primary students to get an AFL ball and begin kicking in the backyard. Keep up the great work and keep kicking those goals!

Staff vs Students Netball Game!

On Thursday 17th we were able to hold a Staff vs Students Netball Game on the outside basketball courts at lunchtime.

The game was very exciting especially with Mr Presant's extraordinary performance on the Staff team which threatened to completely destroy our Student team.

However, due to the quickness of the Student team, we were able to pull through the 4 quarters and come out with a stunning 20 to 15 win.

Thanks to all who participated, helped and supported. This was a memorable game and a great way to start off the year!
