We were thrilled to welcome alumna  Marnie Haddad  (1987) back to Sacré Cœur to open the Joigny Art Show in September. Marnie is a leading fashion portrait photographer who was at the school for 13 years.  She was very impressed with the quality of the art the girls had produced. Visit Marnie's website to see her incredible work.

Procession of Lanterns

The Procession of the Lanterns is a well loved and time honoured tradition at Sacré Cœur. It is held on the eve of the Feast of the Sacred Heart and has become in recent years the farewell ritual which signifies to the Year 12s that their education at Sacré Cœur coming to an end. It has always been a beautiful ceremony with the altar especially decorated for the occasion with many candles and surmounted by the particular heart shaped arrangement of candles which has been used so many times before. The rest of the Chapel is darkened and it does not come to light until the lantern procession begins.

Each Year 12 student carries a lantern which they have made especially to represent themselves and the traditions of the school. These lanterns of different colours each contain a candle and their light flickers through the cut out panels to illuminate the weaving path that the procession takes through the pews. The procession is led by the captains of the school and they read the Consecration to the Sacred Heart as the class gathers in a half circle around the altar before winding out of the chapel to the final singing of Coeur de Jesus.

Alumnae Association

Welcome to Year 12s

Co-Presidents Kerry Bergin and Marianne Cassin met with the current Year 12 class to introduce them to the Alumnae Association and all that it has to offer after they leave the gates of Sacré Cœur.

Kate Burley spoke about the value of the Small Pleasures Fund and how the girls can call on the Sacré Cœur community to support them. She also invited them to attend the lunch with their Mothers next year.

Melinda Adams then encouraged the students to sign up to sacconnect so they could keep in touch and receive the benefits of mentoring and advice from alumnae.
