Where are they now?

Patricia Rumbold (Green 1943)

We were delighted to be contacted by Jane Rumbold (1968), the daughter of Patricia Rumbold (Green 1943) and Mother of  Lucinda Koch (1993), Amelia Koch (1995) and Freya Gordon (Koch 1998).

Patricia has uncovered some terrific photos from the St Patrick's Day Parade which are a welcome addition to the Archives collection.

As one of our oldest living alum, we are pleased to be able to share her story:

From Patricia.....

I was at Sacré Cœur  Burke Road for five years from 1936 until I left at the end of 1941. I’m now 95 years old!

I started as a day girl but in 1937 the Polio epidemic hit Melbourne and we were given the choice of becoming boarders or doing correspondence from home. I was an only child so was thrilled to become a border and enjoyed it very much.

I loved my time at Burke Road and made good friends, some I still see, in particular Pauline Cumming (Cash 1943).

The photo above is from a day organized by Archbishop Mannix where all the big Catholic Schools were asked to create a float for a St Patricks Day Parade in the city. We were dressed to represent the countries where Sacred Heart had schools. I was Australia.

The photo above is me with Margaret Curmi who represented Malta. She later joined the order and taught my daughter Jane. Sadly Margaret passed away last year.

These are my three granddaughters who all attended SacréCœur, Lucinda, Freya and Amy .

We were three generations at  Sacré Cœur. Daughter Jane in the middle with her three daughters, Lucinda, Amy and Freya with two of my eight great grandchildren.

This is me with my husband Derek celebrating our 70th wedding anniversary last year.
