Co-Presidents Report

2019 Focus Goal

A Personal & Active Faith in God

The Alumnae Association (AA) supports and applauds the School Board Chair, Mrs Joan Fitzpatrick and School Principal, Mrs Anna Masters, in their act of generosity and compassion to the PCW (Presentation Convent Windsor) students following the recent announcement of that school’s closure at the end of this year. They informed the School Community of our decision:

As a school we hold the value of compassion very dear and as such are extending a hand of friendship and support to PCW families. We have offered a limited number of Compassionate Bursaries to PCW students entering Years 10 -12 in 2020 (the year levels in which we have vacancies). The bursaries will allow families to educate their daughter within our community for a fee similar to that of PCW.

As a school community and with the support of our Foundation the offering of scholarships and bursaries has always been a key pillar of our community and in fact lives out the Sacred Heart value – a social awareness that impels to action. We currently offer bursaries and scholarships to 10% of our students and information about these can be found on our website

The AA will look forward to welcoming these former PCW girls in 2021/22.

sacconnect: went live on 7 August. It is our best investment of the decade, for future decades. Melinda Adams, our exceptional Manager is responsible for bringing-to-birth this Graduway software program and getting sacconnect off to such a good start.  … our sign-up rate of over 300 alumnae has broken the record of comparable Victorian schools using this platform. Refer to the sacconnect page in this newsletter for more detailed information about the platform and how to sign up.

Class Reunions are growing in number and increasing in pleasure. Again, Melinda has been instrumental in ensuring these events are easy and enjoyable for as many alumnae as possible. AA Committee members assist at the Reunions, ensuring they run to plan. This can be a challenge when it’s time for au revoir! No surprise that so many of us who couldn’t wait to leave School are usually the last to leave the Reunion!

The ASCA Presidency passes to Stuartholme in November 2019. They have a young and enthusiastic Co-Presidency and committee, which augurs well for sustaining our ASCA connections. Sophie Jackman, our Burke Road ASCA President from 2016-2019 is handing over a revived ASCA with orderly and transparent financial, meeting and report records. Sophie has been an excellent President during a challenging period for ASCA. We are waiting for an update from AMASC as to the progress of its mandate.
