BOOK WEEK - THANKYOU
Thankyou to everyone, students, teachers, parents and my amazing volunteers (3 of whom no longer have children at the school - now that's commitment!), for a fabulous BOOK WEEK 2026.
The Book Fair was well attended with many exciting and engaging books for the students to purchase. Orders are on their way.
As a result of your purchases the library has a commission to spend within the library.
BOOK DONATIONS
Thankyou to those families who were able to donate a book to our library.
Students have received these books as first loan, then when they are returned they will be available for all students to borrow.
Unfortunately due to privacy issues photos are unable to be shared, however rest assured we at school are enjoying all the pics as they adorn the library windows.

Library Leaders K, 1, 2 storytime, Infants 2nd Break
Throughout BOOK WEEK a small band of dedicated library leaders donned feather boas and various hats, chose a picture book and read to groups of K-2 students.
It was such a great sight to see. Students gathered around for a story, eagerly listening, laughing and a bonus for kindergaten students if your buddies were reading it, before they went off to play.
Book Character Parade
If you were able to attend the parade you will agree it was a marvellous afternoon. Thankyou to Mrs Chattie for taking charge of the tunes, allowing me to mingle with the students throughout the parade.
The students looked great and it was evident a real effort had been made to recycle, upcycle and make your own costume. Thankyou parents for helping to make it a special event for your child and giving enjoyment to our whole school community.
The theme has just been released for 2027...drum roll please "CATCH THE READING BUG".
AUTHOR VISIT
To complete our BOOK WEEK celebrations we hosted author Coral Vass last Wednesday.
Coral spoke to the students about finding inspiration for our imagination from the visual, written and spoken word. She gave students prompts to start them on their own short story journey.
Students have told me since Coral's visit that they really enjoyed listening to her and many of the ideas she presented resonated especially with the senior students.
Coral commented on how welcoming our school felt upon arrival and the great vibe she got from both staff and students alike.
We have many of Coral's book which have been flying off the shelves, the most popular have been:
2026 FOCUS
Thank you, parents, for assisting your child in remembering their grade library day.
Borrowing rates are strong. With every child in the primary sector having 1 or more books in their tub for DEAR - Drop Everything And Read, and every child in K, 1 and 2 presenting with a library bag in the beginning weeks of school.
Let's keep this momentum going, building strong habits around reading for learning and enjoyment.

LIBRARY BAGS

Please note: I have spare library bags for those students who have lost theirs.

LIBRARY BAGS MATTER... Not just some of the time but all of the time.
No food or drink on my books.
Food and drink are for the chooks.
Library bags keep ‘em clean.
Books are cool don’t treat ‘em mean.
Bring your bag every time.
Fill it up and get in line.
Have it scanned and scoot on out.
LIBRARY BAGS
We all shout.

PREMIER'S READING CHALLENGE
Congratulations to 426 students who have completed the Premier's Reading Challenge.
There are 8 sleeps left to the conclusion of the 2026 Challenge.
All students who have completed the Challenge have their name featured on a soccer ball on the trees.
The aim of the Challenge is to promote a love of literature for enjoyment and to encourage wide reading amongst the students.
