OUR FAITH

PRAYER
Loving God,
speak to each one of us in your still small voice,
and grant us your peace which passes understanding,
that quiet confidence which only you can bring,
and so may our burdens be lifted and our souls refreshed.
Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
Amen
We pray for ...
For........ all St Nicholas School community members, all our Confirmation candidates, and all Year 12 students, particularly the McCarthy Catholic College students, as they complete their final days of schooling.
Donut with Dads: A Sweet Success!
Our school grounds were filled with laughter, energy, and the warm aroma of fresh donuts as we celebrated Father's Day with our annual "Donuts with Dads" morning. It was fantastic to see so many fathers, grandfathers, and father figures join us, kicking around a footy or soccer ball and spending quality time with their children before the school bell rang. It was a truly wonderful morning.
OZANAM DAY
On Wednesday 9th September, our school community celebrated the Feast Day of Blessed Frédéric Ozanam, the patron and inspiration behind Ozanam House. To honour his legacy, students from Ozanam House wore mufti for the day.
Frédéric Ozanam was a compassionate visionary who founded the St Vincent de Paul Society at just 20 years old and dedicated his life to serving people experiencing poverty and injustice. Marking Ozanam Day was an important opportunity for our school community to reflect on his values of charity, empathy, and social action, reminding our students how even small acts of service can make a powerful difference in the lives of others.
THE ANGELUS
At our school, we cherish the moments when we can pause as a community to connect with God and reflect on our faith. Prayer occurs at our school every day. A prayer for students and the school to pray together is the Angelus. Traditionally prayed at noon, the Angelus is a beautiful, centuries-old Catholic prayer that commemorates the Incarnation, the moment God became man in Jesus Christ through Mary's "yes." As a school, we have started by looking at the history and meaning of the prayer as a staff. For students, we are also introducing the prayer's background and meaning and guiding them through the words and responses. Over the coming weeks, students will become familiar with the Angelus. As a school community, our aim is for our students and staff to pause, quiet their minds, and spend a few moments in shared prayer. It is a wonderful daily reminder for all about God’s constant presence in our lives, teaching the value of mindfulness, gratitude, and daily reflection.
