MANNERS MATTER at St Nic's and it's showing

What improved manners we are really starting to see across St Nicholas school. We are so impressed with our students for making such positive changes and we thank our parents for supporting this as well. Keep at it. We have been working on our conversation skills of late, likening this to playing tennis by bouncing questions back and forth. Some students who have stood out as really excelling and/or improving in this field were presented with mini trophies at last week's assembly.  Let's continue to remember that MANNERS MATTER, not just some of the time, but ALL THE TIME!

GENTLE REMINDER: PLEASE KEEP BALLS, TOYS AND COLLECTIBLES AT HOME

We need your help with a quick reminder regarding personal items brought in from home, specifically balls and promotional collectibles such as Woolworths Ooshies, cards, and other small toys. 

Students may bring a handball to school, but no other balls please. There are lots of balls allocated per grade, so the students have many options of things to play with.

LOST PROPERTY

As you can see from the photos below, we are facing an increasing problem with Lost Property at St Nicholas.  Whilst staff very regularly attempt to sort and return belongings, we are finding that the majority of these items have not been labelled.  We are asking for your support in ensuring that every single item of clothing, lunch containers, drink bottles, etc are clearly labelled. As parents and teachers, it is important that we not only encourage our children to take responsibility for their belongings but also to be independent in locating items should they be misplaced.  We appreciate your support with this. 

SCHOOL UNIFORM

For the remainder of this term, children may wear either their full summer or full winter uniform. From Term 4, all children are expected to be in their full summer uniform.

Children must be wearing a hat when playing outside. Any child without a hat at break time will be asked to stay in the Undercroft area or the Library. 

VERITAS AWARDS

Our Veritas Awards stem from our school motto - ‘Veritas’ - meaning truth. The Veritas Award is awarded to students who have been consistently displaying citizenship, leadership and/or Christian Living. Students receiving a Veritas Award are those students who have displayed our ‘Rules for Living’ in their everyday interactions. We announce our Veritas award recipients at Friday morning assemblies every fortnight. Congratulations to Georgai Leys, Bonnie Healy, Morrigan Gillett, Alex Unwin, Lila Knight, Max Edmonds, Dominic Gileppa, Uchenna Nwafor, Jonty Townsend and Mia Reed. 

PUPIL FREE DAYS

SUPERVISION OF STUDENTS

Supervision of students does not begin until 8.15 am each day.

St Nicholas School gates will not be open until the arrival of the first school bus at 8.15 am. It is not appropriate for children to be at school before this time with no supervision. 

If your child/children require care before 8.15 am, we recommend contacting Esteem Kids Before and After School Care, which operates on the grounds of St Nicholas School.
