Library News

Ms Georgia Coutts

Term 1 is always the most rewarding part of the year in the Library! Welcoming new faces, watching friendship form and strengthen at lunchtimes, clubs starting up and readers discovering their new obsessions.

We started this year strong with many of our new Year 7s reserving books and making requests ready for the second they can borrow. Its great to see a cohort with so many avid readers. We welcome all the suggestions and new topics you would like to explore in your wide reading while at the college.

Many of our clubs have restarted for 2026 along side new clubs. One of these is Junk Journaling club which is run every Thursday lunchtime in the library building. I welcome anyone who is curious to start journaling or just wants to enjoy a lunchtime crafting to come along. In term 2 we will be starting small projects to expand our thinking of what journaling looks like. Come by and have a hot drink and meet like minded students!

We also celebrated Valentine's Day with Blind date with a book and our annual flower making activities. This is always a hit and I continue to be impressed with how lovely the flowers our students create are. Stop by the library desk to see some their beautiful results!

The annual Bookmark making competition was another success. Thank you to all of the students who participated and submitted a design. Congratulations to our winners Samantha and Aislinn! Bookmark will be available through the library from term 2.
