Academic Excellence

Tournament of Minds

Our Academic Excellence students recently took part in the Tournament of Minds (TOM), showcasing their hard work and creativity. Five teams tackled unique challenges, diving into research, crafting scripts, designing props and costumes, and preparing engaging ten-minute skits.

On Saturday, August 31, they presented their innovative solutions to a panel of judges at Edith Cowan University in Joondalup. The students performed impressively, especially since it was the first experience for many of them, and they received glowing feedback from the judges.

We are excited to announce that one of our teams advanced to the State Finals! Congratulations to Emali Davies, Amy Zoetilief, Isabelle Crichton, Harsh Jassi, India Douglas, Vienna Douglas, and Nina Diche for their captivating portrayal of a grandfather's life through the eyes of his granddaughter, blending storytelling and dance in a truly mesmerising performance.

Last Saturday, the girls spent an entire day at ECU tackling a three-hour problem-solving challenge. They created a presentation that explored various emotions and methods of regulating them through the Arts. This resulted in another thought-provoking presentation. Additionally, they faced a spontaneous challenge. Although they didn't take home a win, we are incredibly proud of their achievements. Well done!

We commend all our teams for their dedication and creativity, and we’re already looking forward to next year’s competition!

A huge thank you to Ms. Lim and Ms. Gillham for guiding the teams, as well as to our wonderful staff who supported the students in many ways.

Australian Geography Competition

Over 100 students from St Norbert College tested their geographical skills and knowledge against students from all around Australia in the 2024 Australian Geography Competition.

We have recently received the results and are pleased to share how our students have performed.

We have a number of student geographers at our school who performed to a very high level in the Competition this year with 3 gaining high distinctions, 12 distinctions and 28 credits. Congratulations to Ella Peters (Yr8), Nicholas Nguyen (Yr9) and Regan James (Yr10) on earning High Distinctions.

The students will be awarded their certificates at the next College assembly.
