Last week we had an absolutely outstanding week of Service in Kununurra. Our students and staff were extemporary in the way that they conducted themselves and gave so selflessly to others.
The agencies that we assisted were very grateful for our assistance and companionship. A beautiful memory is of our new friend Joyce from Juniper who told me that “She loved you mob and please come back tomorrow”. It was so heartwarming to see our students interact with a variety of different aged people and be able to reach out in friendship and love. It was truly a special experience and I wish the students parents could see the wonderful way in which they conducted themselves throughout the Immersion.
We were so proud of all the donations that we collected from our College community and the staff at St Joseph’s Queens Park. We ended up taking up over 500 kilos by road and 200 by plane. We not only assisted Kununurra but Derby, Broome, Halls Creek, Wyndham and other desert Communities. We know that these donations have made a big difference in the lives of these people.
Here are a few reflections from our students:
"The immersion was a life changing experience because we got to go to Kununurra and meet amazing people and help out the community in many ways."
-Joel
"The Kimberly immersion was a highlight of my school experience so far as it taught me so much and allowed me to experience so many new things. Layla
Something I liked about the immersion is that we got to help out the community and put a smile on people's faces. I had the best experience and am very grateful to have been selected to go and it was the best opportunity."
-Aliyah
"Helping the community and seeing the land was an amazing privilege."
-Abigail
A big thank you to our Staff – Melanie Robinson, Andrew Hay and To the St Joseph’s staff Aoife Cooksley and LyndaaBeadle. I honestly could not have put together a better or more supportive team for our students and me. They were absolutely awesome!
