SSWA Orienteering Championship
Congratulations to the Year 9, 10 and 11 Outdoor Education students who represented the College at the School Sport WA Secondary Orienteering Championships held at Mills Park.
Students competed against schools from across Perth in a fun but challenging event that tested their navigation, decision-making, fitness and endurance.
Competitors navigated a range of courses through parkland, trails and bushland using detailed orienteering maps.

TLG Tour
Over the school holidays, a group of Year 11 and 12 students headed up to Fitzroy Crossing for the annual Teach Learn Grow Tour. These tours give our students real hands-on experience of what it’s like living in remote areas, and give them the opportunity to serve the community. A big thank you to Sam Rees, Montanna Kelly-Wilson, Dale Kennedy, Louise Elscot, Simone Bykerk and Mia Ridzuana who came along on the tour, and to Sue Watt for all you do within the Catalyst team and for organising the tour.
Year 9 French Excursion to Maison Saint-Honoré
Last term, the Year 9 French students recently had the opportunity to extend their language and cultural learning beyond the classroom during an excursion to Maison Saint-Honoré in the Swan Valley.
In preparation for the visit, students created menus in French and practised the vocabulary and expressions required to order food. At the venue, they successfully applied their language skills in a real-life setting by ordering in French and enjoying a selection of French-inspired foods, including savoury crêpes or croissants, followed by a sweet crêpe. They also sampled the well-known French drink Orangina and received a macaron of their choice at the conclusion of the experience.
The excursion provided students with an engaging introduction to aspects of French food culture and dining traditions. By using French in an authentic and meaningful context, students were able to build their confidence, develop their communication skills, and deepen their appreciation of the connection between language and culture. Experiences such as this bring classroom learning to life and encourage students to see French as a practical, relevant and enjoyable language.
The beautiful weather allowed students to make the most of the venue’s magnificent outdoor setting. An unexpected highlight was the arrival of several impressive Ferraris, which added excitement to the day.
Throughout the excursion, the students behaved exceptionally well and represented the College with pride. They demonstrated respect, enthusiasm and responsibility, reflecting the All Saints’ values and contributing to a highly successful, memorable and culturally enriching experience.
Year 8 Cultural Immersion Workshops: Bringing Languages to Life
On the last day of Term 2, the Year 8 cohort enjoyed three engaging periods of cultural exploration during the College’s first Year 8 Cultural Immersion Workshops.
Students rotated through a range of interactive workshops that immersed them in the French and Chinese cultures. From preparing and tasting delicious French crêpes to exploring the mindfulness of Tai Chi, each activity offered a unique cultural experience. The Escape Room challenged students to work collaboratively, solve clues and apply their language and problem-solving skills in a fun and engaging setting.
A special highlight was the contribution of some of our Year 10 and 11 language students, who shared their own language-learning journeys with the Year 8 cohort. Their enthusiasm and personal experiences inspired our younger students to think about the possibilities that language learning can offer.
