Year 5 Pandas' Picnic
Year 5 students from All Saints’ College attended the Pandas’ Picnic at South Perth Community Hall, joining participants from twelve WA schools to celebrate Chinese language and culture. Accompanied by staff, students took part in interactive activities such as games, interviews, tangram challenges, Jianzi making and paper folding, as well as enjoying a fan dance performance and raffle draws.
A key highlight was connecting with peers from other schools, using Chinese in real-life situations to build confidence, teamwork and friendships. The event showcased the value of language learning beyond the classroom, promoting cultural understanding, communication and global citizenship.
Term 2 Bush School Recap
Term 2 has been a rich and rewarding time in our Bush School program, with students across all year levels engaging in hands-on learning, creativity and care for the natural environment.
Our Kindy students enjoyed an exciting start to the Little Bush School program, building confidence and collaboration through water play experiences. A highlight of the term was Family Week, with the children working together to create a stone pathway and contribute to the development of their very own bush school garden space.
In Pre-Primary, students explored their creativity through a variety of nature-based art experiences, including printmaking with natural materials, twine sculptures in the art tree, and clay creations. Family Week was another special time, with students sharing experiences such as making popcorn over the fire.
Year 1 students demonstrated wonderful care and responsibility for our Bush School environment. They worked diligently in the wildflower garden to support native wildlife, including bees, frogs and insects, while also maintaining the space through weeding and mulching. Cooking apples over the campfire was a memorable highlight.
Our Year 2 students focused on developing strong observation skills, taking a more scientific approach to exploring their surroundings. They documented their environment through photography, collaborated on a cohort rock-face sculpture, and created their own charcoal paint for use in their learning journals.
We are incredibly proud of the curiosity, teamwork and environmental stewardship demonstrated by all students throughout the term, and look forward to their continuing growth in Term 3.
