Year 11 & 12 VPC

Melton Library visit

In week 6 this term the year 11 and 12 VPC maths students visited the Melton Library and Information Hub.

 

It was a beautiful day and students enjoyed walking down to the library from school. Melissa the Literacy and Learning Facilitator for Youth and Education at the library gave a short presentation on the services and activities available at the Library, followed by a guided tour for the VPC students.

 

The students heard about all the different items available for borrowing (besides books) and the different types of services available at the library.

 

Anyone can book and use computers, shared spaces, access emails, do photocopying and scanning or arrange 1:1 assistance for writing resumes, cover letters and job applications. The library also has group and individual study spaces, a café, a recording studio, access to play station 5, book groups, chess club, craft groups, story time for pre

schoolers and assistance with homework and research into family histories and historical records.  

 

The VPC students also learnt how to become a member, how many items they can be borrowed at once and the opening hours for the Melton Library and other library access points. 

 

The Melton Library and Learning Hub is much more than a building full of books. It is a place that

  • that provides access to technology and digital literacy training

  • Supports lifelong learning and self education

  • A community hub for social connection

  • IS WELL WORTH A VISIT IF YOU HAVE NEVER BEEN

Yr 11/12 Canned food collection 

This term Year 11 and 12 VPC students at KSC are collecting canned food for our local Melton foodbank. Collection boxes are located in the library, main office foyer, maths staffroom and main staffroom.

 

Winter is a busy season for Melton Foodbank. Melton Foodbank helps thousands of people in Melton by providing food and other items. If you can please donate just one can of food towards this collection, foodbank and our VPC class will be so grateful.
