Waitress Excursion
Lucy Filor - Production Director

Sugar, butter, flour - a recipe for a fun night out! The cast, crew and orchestra of Sister Act went on an exhilarating excursion to see Waitress at Her Majesty’s Theatre.
There is nothing like live theatre – every performance, and every audience, brings its own touch of magic! The music, stagecraft and comedy in Waitress were especially impressive.
Our exuberant cohort of over 50 students from Years 8-12 was treated to a brilliant show in excellent stalls seats. Their energy was contagious and their energy and joy affected the entire auditorium's audience, receiving compliments from members of the ensemble and orchestra. They were also complimented on their behaviour by HM staff.
At the end of the show, members of the cast and band repaid the generosity of our wonderful kids, stopping to thank us for coming, posing for selfies and group photos, and signing autographs. Students were especially excited to meet Natalie Bassingthwaighte who played the lead role of Jenna, and Gareth Isaac who played the hilarious Ogie!
We look forward to finding out what shows 2027 has in store and planning our next big adventure!
Here are some student responses:
'Waitress was more than words could describe. The incredible coordination and choreography that went into each and every moment was breathtaking and the perfect timing and cohesion of the cast and ensemble in larger numbers such as "Opening up" was stunning. I think I can speak for all the students that got to attend when I say it was an incredible experience that we are all so lucky to have seen! The casting was amazing and everyone was so well suited for their roles and did an incredible job of executing their characters, which I think is a massive inspiration for all the cast and I think everyone found something that really stood out to them. The experience was such an incredibly impactful musical that I have become a frequent pie-er and booked tickets for my third round! Thank you to the entire cast and crew that made this show so amazing and possible! Waitress, we 'love you like a table'!' – Jupiter
'After we went and saw Hadestown last year, I didn’t think anything could be better, but seeing Waitress – dare I say – was on par with that experience! From watching the amazing performers, well thought-out scenes and beautiful sets from afar to being able to meet two of the lead actors, Waitress took us on an adventure of “learning to love what’s on the inside”!' – Charlotte
'Waitress was a truly magical and amazing show to see and experience.' – Annabelle
'A magical experience … a wonder to witness, and if I could, I’d relive the whole night a thousand times over!' – Sienna
'A breathtaking musical with incredible actors, a beautiful set, and such amazing songs!' – Audrey
