Jacki Landy - The Wellbeing Team

As Term 2 ends, many students are likely feeling a mix of relief, accomplishment, and exhaustion. This is particularly true for our Year 9–11 students, who have recently completed their semester examinations. Exams require significant mental effort, preparation, and resilience, and it is important to acknowledge the energy that students have invested over the past few weeks.
The end of a term often provides an opportunity to pause and recognise just how much has been achieved. It is also a chance to reflect on how we are feeling. When we are tired, stressed, or overwhelmed for extended periods, it can affect our motivation, concentration, sleep, mood, and overall wellbeing. Taking time to notice these signs is an important part of looking after ourselves.
While school holidays are often associated with rest and relaxation, they can also provide valuable space for reflection. Reflection is not about focusing on what went wrong; rather, it is about identifying what worked well, what challenges arose, and what can be adjusted moving forward.
Students might like to consider:
What helped me manage my workload this term?
What made school feel more challenging?
Were there routines or habits that supported my wellbeing?
What is one thing I could do differently next term?
Small changes can often have a big impact. Whether it is creating a study schedule earlier, improving sleep habits, asking for help sooner, or making more time for activities that bring joy and connection, reflection can help students develop positive systems that reduce stress and support success in the future.
As we head into the holidays, we encourage students and families to prioritise rest, connection and activities that help recharge their batteries. Taking time to recover is not a reward for hard work, it is an essential part of maintaining wellbeing.
We wish all members of our school community a safe, restful and enjoyable holiday break and look forward to welcoming everyone back refreshed for Term 3.
