Term 2 Week 2 2026 - Friday 1st May
What have we been up to?
Welcome to term 2! It was so wonderful hearing the colourful and exciting stories of your easter holiday adventures. But what was most wonderful, was how excited everyone was to be back. We have a busy term ahead of us, so we have dived straight into it! We have swimming, photo day and a captivating animal incursion waiting for us this term, and we simply can’t wait!
Leader in Me Lessons
This term, our Leader in me sessions will be facilitated by Mr Downs for the first half of the term, and then Ms Diggins. We have started the term by exploring what we are grateful for. The students shared being grateful for their school, their friends, their parents, their teachers and the food they get to eat, how special!
In Literacy, we have a range of lessons that support the growth of each student's literacy learning. This includes; Phonics, Write 2 learn, Fluency, Handwriting and Literacy (Reading). This term, our Reading focus is Information reports. We have started the term by reading and exploring an information report about Animal legs. We are in the process of creating our own information texts about animals of our choice. It has been so wonderful to see each student share their knowledge and understanding with pride. This term, we are exploring the following in phonics:

In Maths, we are revisiting place value. We are learning how to count and order 4 digit numbers. We are understanding the concept of ‘greater than’ and ‘less than’, as we learn to place 4 digit numbers on number lines.
In Inquiry, we are learning about chemical sciences and mixtures. We will be doing a range of fun and exciting science experiments that explores mixtures, states of matter and how we can change states of matter.

- Hats are not required in term 2, but they are encouraged, as the sun is still shining! Please continue to send your child to school with a water bottle each day
- We are continuing to send take home readers each week. Your child will not be able to take home a book without a reading satchel. If your child does not have one, please reach out to your classroom teacher.
