Student Leaders – Art & Language Captains

In this edition, I would like to shine the spotlight on our amazing and hardworking Art and Language Captains. Their work brings colour, excitement, cultures and different perspectives to our school! Here are some of the achievements from our Art Captains.

Art Captains – Ravya, Sayoon, Sarah, Win and Sakthi

The Art Captains play a vital role in fostering a vibrant and supportive creative environment at our school. They see their role as a way to help others, and they take pride in being the go-to people whenever their peers have questions about upcoming art-related events.

Throughout the year, they have been hands-on in bringing art to life across the school. They’ve loved setting up art competitions and organising activities like the Art Stall (a recent event) to get everyone involved. To ensure these events are a success, they create eye-catching posters and deliver speeches at assemblies, sharing their passion for the arts with the entire school community. Their "home base" is the art room, and they work closely with Miss Lyczba to set up and clean our art space. It is important to them that the room remains an environment where students can have fun and be creative while still being respectful and reasonable in the space.

When I asked our Language Captains about their achievements, they went above and beyond and submitted the following reflection:

As your Language Captains, we are thrilled to share an update on all the incredible things happening within our school's language program, because learning a language is a genuine superpower that lets us see the world through a whole new lens, connects us deeply with different cultures, and brings our diverse school community closer together. 

We have already achieved so much this year, starting back in Term 1 when we ran our fantastic Chinese Dance Club for everyone who loves to express themselves through movement and traditional dance. 

Right now in Term 3, our classrooms are buzzing with energy as we run our brand-new Chinese Story Club, which has been an amazing experience for our Grade 1 to 4 students to dive into magical tales, practice their listening skills, and explore new vocabulary together. Alongside these clubs, we have also loved sharing fascinating cultural facts about 2026 being the Year of the Horse, a special time in Chinese astrology that represents incredible energy, speed, and perseverance. 

As your Language Captains, we want to wish you all Mǎ dào chéng gōng 马到成功(Success at the mount of your horse) and Lóng mǎ jīng shén 龙马精神 (The vibrant spirit of the dragon and horse), sending our best blessings for health and encouraging every student to fearlessly chase their biggest dreams!
