Year 5 Update

Our Learning - Weeks 5 & 6

It’s been a busy and exciting fortnight in Year 5!

In Mathematics, we wrapped up our fractions unit and are now diving into probability and graphing. Students are exploring chance events and learning how to represent data in different formats.

In Writing, we concluded our persuasive writing unit with student leadership applications. We were incredibly proud of the thoughtful and passionate responses from our aspiring leaders. We’ve now begun our information writing unit, where students have selected topics of personal interest to research and write informative texts.

In Humanities, we finished our learning on bushfires, including their causes, impacts, and safety strategies. We’ve now shifted our focus to Australia’s neighbouring countries, exploring geography, culture, and international relationships.

We also had a special visit from the local CFA, who brought their fire truck and shared important messages about fire prevention and safety. A big thank you to Ms Monagle for organising this engaging incursion!

This fortnight, students reflected on what makes a great leader and submitted their leadership applications. We are proud of all applicants for their courage and commitment to making a positive impact.

As we approach the end of the year, students are completing a range of assessments. We are incredibly proud of the growth and effort shown by all students. Recognising that assessments can be mentally exhausting, many classes have taken a break from homework to support student wellbeing.
