Our Learning - Weeks 5 & 6

Social and Emotional Learning (SEL):

*To name and celebrate personal and cultural strengths like helpful, kind, patient, brave, neat, hardworking and friendly and give examples of when we have seen someone using one of their strengths.

*To learn from Aboriginal perspectives about how families can care for each other and for Country. 

*To describe ways that families can be different and describe ways that family members can help each other. 

 

English:

*Revise Heart words and speed sounds with the use of our Chitter Chatter Chant cards.

*To recognise the long /e/ phoneme is represented by the grapheme  ‘--y’ at the end of two syllable words (the two syllables are represented by two dashes --).  

To recognise the long /i/ phoneme is represented by the graphemes ‘igh’ and ‘-y’ and              identify words that have a long /i/ sound in them and are represented by the graphemes ‘igh’ and ‘-y’.                                        

*To write a weekend recount.

*To look at the sentences and interesting words in our picture books.

*To plan and write a narrative.

*To explore the characters’ speech in narratives and create our own comics using speech bubbles.

 

Maths:

*To practise forming digits correctly, review prior learning and revise concepts with our Maths Daily Review.

*To understand and investigate capacity by using different size containers by identifying if they are full, empty, half full and so forth.

* To recognise Australian coins by their name and appearance.   

* To compare two coins and decide which is worth more (has greater value).

 

Inquiry:

*To recognise different toys in movies.

*To recognise differences between toys (old and new).

*To look at how people design and build things.

 

Friendly Reminders:

-Please send school summer hats with your child- Hillsmeade school hatsare required to be worn every day at school during recess and lunch play (during all of Term 4). Students that do not have their school hat will be required to play under the shade sails area.

-Prep Transition #2 (2026 Preps) - Tuesday 11th November. Current Preps will be in a different classroom for the first hour of the day and then will return to their classroom when transition has ended.

-Prep Transition #3 (2026 Preps) - Tuesday 25th November.

-Wednesday 26th November - Curriculum Day, students are not required to attend school.
