Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) for Years 4–6 in 2026

At Hillsmeade Primary School, we are committed to preparing our students for a connected and creative future. In 2026, all students in Years 4 to 6 will continue to participate in our Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) program, empowering them to learn anytime, anywhere.

  • The BYOD program supports students to:
    • Take ownership of their learning
    • Develop digital literacy and responsible online habits
    • Access collaborative and creative tools that extend classroom learning
    • Build independence and confidence using technology across subjects

What Devices Are Compatible?

To ensure a smooth and supported learning experience, students are encouraged to bring a school-compatible device that meets our digital learning requirements.

Recommended Devices:

  • iPads (7th generation or newer) – ideal for creativity, apps, and accessibility.
  • Windows Laptops or 2-in-1 Devices (e.g., HP, Lenovo, Dell) – suitable for keyboard-heavy tasks and Microsoft 365 use.
  • Chromebooks – an efficient, cloud-based option for students who prefer a simpler setup.
  • MacBooks – supported for families who already own one.

All compatible devices must be able to:

  • Connect to the school Wi-Fi network
  • Run Microsoft 365 (Teams, Word, PowerPoint, OneNote)
  • Have a working camera and keyboard (physical or on-screen)
  • Be fully charged at the start of each day

Devices That Are Not Suitable

To ensure consistency, reliability, and compatibility, the following devices are not supported in the BYOD program:

  • Android tablets (e.g., Samsung Galaxy Tab, Lenovo Tab)
  • Phones or mini tablets
  • Gaming laptops or consoles
  • Old or unsupported iPads (6th generation or older)
  • Devices unable to run Microsoft 365 apps
