DRAMA STUDENTS TAKING THE STAGE || Our Year 9 & 10 Drama students stepped onto the Malthouse Theatre stage today as part of the "Suitcase Series"! After weeks of collaborative work on the script Who No Kno Go Kno, they shared their performance with other schools, exchanged feedback and enjoyed a live Malthouse production.

THRILLS & SKILLS AT HAUNTED HILLS - MOUNTAIN BIKE COMPETITION || For the third year in a row, our students represented BSC at the Rocky Trails Academy MTB competition at Gippsland’s Haunted Hills today. They gave it their all, gaining valuable experience competing against top schools.

FIT FOR LIFE TENNIS SESSION || Our Year 9 & 10 Fit for Life students had a great time at Bodley Street Tennis Courts today for their Fit for Life practical!

YEAR 7 HEALTHY LIFESTYLES DANCE UNIT || Our Year 7 students have embraced movement and creativity over four weeks in a dance unit as part of the Healthy Lifestyles curriculum!

INNOVATE & PBL EXPO || Last night our talented Year 7 – 10 students wowed us with their amazing projects, sharing their authentic journeys through inquiry and project-based learning. From engaging displays and artefacts to insightful posters, their creativity and commitment shone brightly. A huge thank you to all the parents and carers who attended and voted for the best PBL projects from each year level. Stay tuned for the announcement of the winning projects!

THE BEAURISTA COLLECTIVE – COFFEE FOR A CAUSE! || We are excited to introduce The Beaurista Collective, a social enterprise run by our Year 11 VCE Vocational Major students. In partnership with 23 Degrees Coffee Roasters, the students are selling whole coffee beans to the community, to support the Café Femenino program and Guide Dogs Victoria!

MONDAY 11 NOVEMBER 2024

REMEMBRANCE DAY || Our student leaders did a wonderful job representing Beaumaris Secondary College with pride and respect at this morning's Beaumaris RSL Remembrance Day service. A notable mention goes to Year 11 History student, Jake D, for delivering a touching tribute to our fallen heroes. A Remembrance Day service was also conducted at the college, which included a heartfelt poem reading by Year 11 student, Pearl B, and observing a minute’s silence with reflection and remembrance. Lest we forget.

SPORTS ENHANCEMENT AT ROYAL MELBOURNE || This year, our Year 9 & 10 Sports Enhancement students have been honing their skills on the greens at Royal Melbourne Golf Club. We’re lucky to have such an incredible golf course right on our doorstep!

TUESDAY 12 NOVEMBER 2024 

YEAR 7 SPORT GALA DAY || Our Year 7 students had an amazing day at the Kingston Division Gala Day, showcasing their skills and sportsmanship in Cricket, Handball and Lacrosse! Huge congratulations to our Girls Handball team for taking out the win, and to both Lacrosse teams for going undefeated (securing second place by percentage). A special mention to our Boys Cricket team for securing 4th place with brilliant performances. Additionally, a big shoutout to our Boys Handball team for achieving an impressive 3rd place! Superstar efforts by all!

GIRLS IN SCIENCE || A group of our Year 9 & 10 students had an inspiring day meeting trailblazing female scientists as part of the L'Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science program! They heard firsthand about the incredible research these Fellows are leading and their journeys as women in STEM. Students also engaged with GTAC STEM coaches, exploring real research equipment and interactive activities. A huge thank you to L'Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science Australia & New Zealand and GTAC for this empowering experience!

WEDNESDAY 13 NOVEMBER 2024 

MODEL UNITED NATIONS AT BSC || Today, we hosted a Model United Nations event in the Gym, offering students the chance to engage in meaningful civic and political discussions. Representing various countries, students collaborated on a UN resolution addressing the Sustainable Development Goal of ending violence against women and girls. This immersive experience encouraged students to develop global awareness, empathy and negotiation skills while tackling a critical international issue.

BSC MARKET DAY || The college was buzzing again at lunchtime today despite the weather, as our second group of Year 9 Beyond students took the stage to showcase their creativity, innovation and entrepreneurial spirit! With stalls offering delicious treats and interactive challenges, students from all year levels joined in the fun while learning about social enterprises. Another fantastic event, with all funds going to charities and non-profits chosen by the students!

YEAR 7 WORLD OF MATHS INCURSION || Yesterday, our Year 7s enjoyed an exciting, hands-on Maths experience with a unique travelling show full of interactive, hand-made activities!

KWONG LEE DOW SCHOLAR || Congratulations to Haeley H (Year 10) who has been selected from a highly competitive field to join the Kwong Lee Dow Young Scholars Program at the University of Melbourne for 2025-2026! This prestigious academic enrichment program is designed to support high achieving secondary school students to achieve their personal best and helps them on the path to future studies at the university.
