Booker Prize 2024 - Winner Announced
English author Samantha Harvey has won the prestigious Booker Prize, worth $98,000, for her novel, Orbital, about a team of six astronauts on board the International Space Station.
The book, only 144 pages long, was described by the Chair of the Booker Prize as "a book about a wounded world". The book explores mourning, desire and the climate crisis.
The Booker shortlist includes:
Percival Everett’s James, a reimagining of The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn from the perspective of the enslaved Jim.
Charlotte Wood’s Stone Yard Devotional. Wood, the first Australian to be shortlisted for the Booker since 2014.
Creation Lake by Rachel Kushner, Held by Anne Michaels and The Safekeep by Yael van der Wouden.

NEW ARRIVALS: The Folk of the Air Series by Holly Black
New arrivals to our library will take you on an enchanting journey into the world of Faerie in Holly Black’s captivating series, The Folk of the Air. This trilogy consists of The Cruel Prince, The Wicked King, and The Queen of Nothing.
The Cruel Prince introduces us to Jude Duarte, a mortal girl living in the treacherous world of Faerie and follows her somewhat dangerous journey throughout the series.
The Folk of the Air series is perfect for our secondary school students who enjoy fantasy, adventure, and strong character development. The Cruel Prince was the winner of the silver INKY for best international YA book.

A reminder to all students that your Compass Student ID card is also your library card. Please bring your student ID card to the library when you would like to borrow.
Book Club 2024
Come and join us in the library if you’d like to chat about the book you are reading and the latest releases in our collection. Book Club runs at lunch time every Wednesday.
