EMR Cross Country

A team of 49 Wantirna College students headed out to the Yarra Glen Racecourse on Thursday 12th June for the Eastern Metropolitan Region Cross Country Championships. Students were met with cold conditions and a tough track, including hills, mud and sharp turns. Only the top 12 in each race would make it through to the State finals. Read on below for the results.

HIGHLIGHTS

Congratulations to Jayvel Singh, Holly Makaay and Chloe Grund who all placed 1st in their respective races, Holly and Jayvel both placed 3rd last year so this is a big step up and a testament to their training and hard work. Chloe also won at EMR last year representing Heathmont, so we are certainly happy to have her join Wantirna! This is an incredible achievement by these three athletes, and they have done the Wantirna College community extremely proud! 

Another special mention to Chase Makaay 4th, and Georgia Zabilowicz 11th who also progressed to the State championships, meaning we have a total of 5 students who will compete at State on Thursday 24th July.

Lastly, congratulations to our 17-20 Year Girls team of Holly Makaay, Kiarrah Owen and Emma Freyer who finished 2nd in the teams championship. An amazing effort!
