Subject Selection

Senior School - Year 9 & 10

This term, our Year 9 and 10 students have attended assemblies outlining the important process of subject selection for 2026. PowerPoint presentations from these sessions are now available on Microsoft Teams, and we strongly encourage students and families to review them carefully as they begin thinking about course preferences and future pathways.

Opportunities for Year 9 Students

Our current Year 9s have been introduced to several exciting programs available in Year 10, including:

  • VCE Early Start (beginning a VCE subject a year early)

  • VCE VET Sport & Recreation Early Start

  • Peer Support Program

  • Sport Excellence Program

These programs offer unique challenges and opportunities to extend learning, develop leadership skills, or enhance sporting performance. 

 

Please note that all of these options require an application, which is due Friday 1 August (end of Week 2, Term 3).

 

Subject Selection Day

Wed 7 August (Week 3)

Subject selection interviews for all Year 9 and 10 students will take place on Wed 7 August. This is a critical part of the process where students will confirm their subject choices in one-on-one sessions with a course counsellor. All classes will be cancelled on this day, but students are still required to attend their scheduled interview on-site. Interview times and further details will be shared closer to the date.

Planning Ahead: Year 10 and Beyond

Year 10 students are reminded that subject choices can impact post-school options. Please see the attached document outlining 2028 University pre-requisites, which is available to help guide these decisions—this is especially important for students considering university study after Year 12. We encourage all students and families to review this document and seek advice if they are unsure.

 

Next Steps for Students:

  1. Review the Teams PowerPoints to understand your options.

  2. Explore the Year 10 Handbook and investigate your interests.

  3. Consider future plans – VCE, VET, VCAL, university or work.

  4. Submit applications for any Year 10 programs by 31 July.

  5. Prepare for your course selection interview on 7 August.
