Grade 4

Welcome back to a new school year!

The Grade 4 students have made a wonderful start to the year. They thoroughly enjoyed our Setting Up for Success program where they explored themselves, what they have in common with others and how we can work together to ensure we have a great year. Each class has created a set of expectations and a class goal to work towards throughout the year. They have thoroughly enjoyed participating in the Friendology program where they have started to learn more about being a friendship ninja and what that means.

In English, students have been exploring the routines and expectations of the Reading and Writing workshop. They have been exploring what good readers and writers do and how writing pieces are created. Students have also been looking at poems where they have learnt about calligrams, haikus and limericks. Self-assessing their favourite style and publishing their preferred piece.

In Mathematics, students have enjoyed playing a variety of games, where they have applied their number knowledge and demonstrated their understanding. The students have used hands-on materials to support their place value knowledge and work with larger numbers.
