OCEANIA WEIGHTLIFTING CHAMPIONSHIPS 2025

In news from the Oceania 2025 Youth and Junior Championships, Year 10 student Ellie Zalcman proudly took her place on the podium wearing green and gold for Australia!

After making the switch from gymnastics to weightlifting less than two years ago, Ellie competed last weekend at the Oceania Championships aged just 15, making her the youngest member of the Australian team.

She is thrilled with the results of her first international competition.

At 49kg body weight in the 53kg class, Ellie achieved:

  • 57kg snatch (3kg comp pb)

  • 69kg clean & jerk

  • Total weight of 126kg (3/6 lifts) (2kg comp pb)

  • and a gold medal as a youth (u17) lifter

To top it off, Ellie also left the competition with the snatch, clean & jerk and total Australian, under 15 record.

A great achievement. Our congratulations to Ellie.
