MISSION TO MARS

The Mission to Mars excursion was an exciting excursion that brought what we are learning in the classroom to life. Our class visited the Victorian Space Science Education Centre (VSSEC), where we took part in a full-day simulation of a mission to Mars. The day was divided into two main roles: Mission Control and Astronauts.

In Mission Control, we worked as a team to monitor the mission, communicate with the astronauts, and guide them through their tasks on the Martian surface. We recorded data, solved problems, and learnt to make decisions under pressure. The Astronauts suited up and explored the Mars environment, completing tasks like collecting rock samples and testing pH levels.

Midway through the mission, an unexpected event - such as a solar flare or a sandstorm - added a layer of urgency. Both teams had to work together to respond to the crisis and safely complete the mission. It was a great test of our communication and problem-solving skills. Overall, the day was a fun experience. It made the mission feel real and showed how teamwork is essential in space exploration.
