Library

Another Term is coming to a close and we sadly must say farewell to Mrs. Allibon. The students have loved having Mrs. Allibon teaching them in the library. They have shared lots of laughs over books and even a few tears. Books can bring laughter and joy and great sorrow as they allow us to explore different ideas, stories and places.

To say thank you and farewell, students in Library Club made Mrs. Allibon a bouquet of flowers to remember us by. On the leaves the students were able to write a few words for Mrs. Allibon. 

This papercraft project is just one of the many crafts we have worked on this year. Other projects included rats and mice to hide around the library for Book Week. Cats and paper book animals to decorate the shelves. Or for those who wanted to do something a bit simpler we also had bookmarks that students were able to colour in and take home.

The library is open 3 times a week for students to come into the library. On Monday, Library club opens at lunch for Mystery Chapter Monday, where I pick a random book from the shelves to read at least the first chapter of to students. Sometimes I ask to pick the book to be read.

This term some of the books we have read included: Ice Wolves and Impossible Quest for 5-6 readers; Bravepaw, Naughty Dragons and Wooly Jumpers for 3-4 reader and for the prep to 2 readers we read “This book is Perfect” and Paddington at Large.

A full list of titles and where to find the books can be found in the library so that students can find the book to read later if they enjoy the first chapter.

Tuesday recess is a chance for students to come into the library for quiet reading. This is a great time for students to browse the shelves and find something different to read that they may not often read.

On Thursday, Library club opens again, this time running papercrafts. It is on this day that students can come and help make items for the library display or to take home. I hope everyone has had a lot of fun this term.
